“We are very excited about our entry into the warehouse and distribution service space,” said Rick Keeler, Senior Vice President of Strategic Development. “Our warehousing solutions are designed to assist companies without in-house logistics services. We want to help those companies focus on their core competencies by supporting them with our warehousing solution”

Keeler said the warehouse offering will provide state-of-the art warehouse management systems powered by SAP from facilities in the nation’s major gateways. The service will also offer value-added services such as pick & pack, replenishment, labeling, web-based visibility, reporting, etc.

The warehousing division will be managed by Chris Reynolds.

In a separate announcement, ODFL said, based on preliminary financial results, it expects earnings per diluted share for the second quarter ended June 30, 2008, to be within a range of $0.62 to $0.64. The consensus analyst estimate for the second quarter is $0.51 per diluted share.

Contributing to the growth in the company’s second-quarter earnings were a 10.2% increase in tonnage compared with the second quarter of 2007, a more stable pricing environment and improved productivity.
