UPS Restoring Service After Gustav

Article Tools

UPS said on September 3, 2008 it had restored package delivery service to most geographic areas touched by Hurricane Gustav.

The company successfully executed its contingency plans and no facilities or delivery vehicles suffered any substantial damage from the storm.

There are a few areas that stand as exceptions to the resumption of service, most notably New Orleans where the city government has yet to lift its mandatory evacuation order.  UPS is prepared to resume service immediately to and from New Orleans once the company is allowed to send employees back to the city, even if generators are required to provide power.
