IDS will use the MCA solution to support its objective of being the preferred supplier for World Class Total Life Cycle Systems Management.

MCA's SPO software will deliver capability for forecasting, strategic and tactical planning for Boeing to support its customers' global service requirements. To meet the performance challenges of Boeing's Performance Based Logistics (PBL) contracts, the product will include availability-based sparing, which means that the product will optimize spares forecasts for aircraft up-time while meeting both budget and fill-rate constraints.

"We offer customers like Boeing IDS a scaleable enterprise-level solution that's accessible and useable, and incorporates a planning system that maximizes the benefits of risk pooling in multi-echelon and multi-indenture environments," said Dr. Morris Cohen, co-founder and chairman, MCA Solutions, and Matsushita Professor of Manufacturing and Logistics at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

"We are fortunate to be working closely with Boeing to leverage our experience with their leading-edge competence in the demanding aerospace support environment," added Bob Salvucci, CEO of MCA.

The initial implementation will support Boeing's F/A18 Integrated Readiness Support Team (FIRST). FIRST is a unique contract with the U.S. Navy to improve fleet support and lower support cost for the Navy's fleet of F/A-18 Super Hornet aircraft. The software system will be rolled out at sites in St. Louis, Mesa, Ariz., Long Beach, Ca. and Philadelphia, Pa. across multiple programs.
